About Me

I’m Kanika Verma; a self taught artist from New Delhi, India. I'm living my dream that I first had as a child.

I like to paint intuitive abstracts which celebrate the quintessential harmony in life and nature. My work reflects an emotional and thoughtful response to life and capture the essence of these transient sensations through the medium of paint. Characterized by soft veils of vibrant colors and unique innovative textures, my paintings exude positive emotions, love, aspirations, hope and happiness. The abstract forms draw inspiration from my subconscious creativity, which is impacted by the nature, our aspirations and the world around and beyond us. My work is abstract at times but sometimes it can also border on the surreal, especially when starting points come from my dreamscape.

I also do Charcoal portraits and sketches. Charcoal sketching is probably the most difficult form of sketching to handle, nevertheless, its results are the most impressive. However, I would like to point out that a sketch cannot be an exact replica of the picture that is sketched onto a canvas. Why would someone want a replica of something made so expensively? Each sketch has to have something unique about it, something very much desirable. It must tell the story that the picture has failed to do. Since it is also handmade, therefore, it holds a certain sentimental value as well. A perfect sketch reveals centuries of history in every stroke; and by doing so, it predominates such expressions and preserves such feelings, the likes of which no picture can ever manage to preserve.

I hope getting your sketches made by me and buying my artwork will prove to be an experience of utmost pleasure for you.
